Global Safety Evidence Centre: Insight to Impact – recent and future work
At the Global Safety Evidence Centre (GSEC), established by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, we want to know ‘what works’ in safety evidence and practice. This talk outlines the Centre’s recent progress and its future directions in collating, creating, and communicating insights that help practitioners, policymakers, and communities ‘engineer a safer future’.
Evidence synthesis on effective OSH interventions and senior safety leadership reports started our ‘what works’ pipeline. Our -Safe Work programme- reports on Climate Change and Emerging Technology (SafetyTech Accelerator) and World Risk Poll, have helped us understand how environmental and digital change shapes workplace risks. The main conclusions of this work will be shared with the audience as well as upcoming projects, including turning findings from our World Risk Poll into action; evidence synthesis on disaster-responder mental health and disaster early- warning systems effectiveness; and strengthening our research tools and collaborative research agendas.
Peer review from health and safety practitioners and experts helps make findings relevant and useful, as well as credible and robust. For this we have established the GSEC advisory group. However, we also ask for your input on what research is missing and what is needed for standard setting in the coming years.
