The Benchmarking Program

Safety On The Edge 2027 | Savannah, Georgia
Where the world's best safety organizations open their doors to each other

Every year, before the Safety On The Edge Conference officially opens, something rare happens: eight of the world’s leading corporations sit down in the same building – not to present from a stage, but to show each other how they actually work.

This is the Safety On The Edge Benchmarking Program: an exclusive, invitation-anchored afternoon of structured, peer-to-peer benchmarking and networking for organizations serious about learning from the best.

Not a Lecture. Not a Panel. A Working Session.

The Benchmarking Program is built for delegates who want more than presentations. It is an interactive, rotational benchmarking process in which every participating organization both contributes and learns.

In small rooms, in mixed groups, host companies open up their real practices for scrutiny and discussion:

  • Innovative safety interventions
  • Risk-management practices
  • Cultural transformation programs
  • Technology implementations
  • Learning and improvement models

Delegates don’t just listen. They question, compare, challenge, and take home practices they can test in their own organizations.

Who's in the Room

To ensure depth of discussion, confidentiality, and high-quality interaction, the program is limited to eight host corporations each year.

The 2026 cohort included Caterpillar, Nike, Pernod Ricard, Siemens, Southern Company, Tesla, Xylem, and P&G – a deliberate cross-section of industries, from heavy manufacturing to consumer goods, energy to technology.

The eight host companies for 2027 will be announced soon.

Why Organizations Join

The program exists to give participants a structured environment to:

  • Learn from best-in-class companies, local and global — how they think, what they measure, and what they’ve abandoned
  • Exchange ideas, methodologies, and emerging practices across industry boundaries
  • Build cross-industry relationships before the main conference even begins

The cross-industry design is the point. The practices that transform safety in your organization are rarely invented in your own sector.

How the Afternoon Works

Session One — Four Host Rooms

Four host organizations each run a room. The host presents a topic from their own practice, and delegates review, discuss, and contribute their own views and experience. After a short break, delegates rotate to a new room and a new host — mixed groups, structured dialogue, direct benchmarking comparisons.

Hosted Networking Break

All participants come together to deepen connections before the second round.

Session Two — Four New Host Rooms

Four different organizations take over as hosts, and the rotational format runs again: present, discuss, rotate, compare.

By day’s end, every delegate has been inside multiple host rooms, engaged directly with several best-in-class organizations, and built a network of peers before the conference has even opened.

The Evening: Where It All Comes Together

The benchmarking day concludes at 5:45 PM — and the connections don’t stop there. Participants then join the official Welcome Reception of the Safety On The Edge Conference: an exclusive opportunity to continue conversations with global industry leaders, keynote speakers, and fellow delegates as the main conference begins.
