Panel Discussion: The Role of Research
Nancy Hey is the Director of Evidence & Insight at Lloyd’s Register Foundation, responsible for leading the World Risk Poll, Impact, and establishing a Global Safety Evidence Centre. She joined the Foundation in 2024 from her previous role as founding Director of the UK’s What Works Centre for Wellbeing for ten years. Nancy is recognised globally as a leader in the fields of wellbeing, evidence and social progress.
Before her tenure at the What Works evidence centre, Nancy spent 15 years in the UK Civil Service working across nine departments including in public health, justice, skills and constitutional reform. She led the establishment of the professional policy community in the UK and on integrating wellbeing into public policy.
Nancy holds degrees in Law LL.B(Hons) and an MSc Coaching & Development, with a specialisation in emotions and learning systems. She serves in a wide range of adivsory roles past and present including as Expert Advisor with the OECD and to the UK House of Lords Life Beyond Covid Committe Living Online inquiry. She is also a trustee of the National Centre for Creative Health, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Leadership Fellow at St George’s House, Windsor.
