Melissa is a HSE leader with 25 years experience in operating business centers in the Europe, United Kingdom, United States and Trinidad and Tobago. Melissa has a strong track record of leading teams, collaboration and influencing across diverse teams and performance delivery in Health, Safety and Environment programs implementation.
Melissa is currently the Vice President Health and Safety with Smiths Group, a global company that designs, manufactures and delivers engineering solutions for mission-critical application.
Melissa holds a B.Sc. in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of the West Indies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and a member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
Melissa is deeply passionate about access to STEM education for young girls and deepening the impact of the HSE discipline in the workplace. As a result, she has volunteered in several roles including Chair of the IOSH Chiltern Branch committee, IOSH Council member, Executive committee member of One Wish, Board Trustee of the 1% Safer Charity and Chair of the Women’s Energy Network Young Women Energized Program.
