Edge of Safety: AI Vision and IoT Redefining Risk Detection in High-Stakes Industries
In high-stakes industries like construction, manufacturing, and energy, safety has traditionally been reactive, addressing risks after incidents occur. This abstract explores how AI-powered computer vision and the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIIoT) are revolutionizing safety management. By integrating real-time data from IoT sensors with advanced vision algorithms, these technologies detect emerging risk patterns—such as equipment anomalies, unsafe behaviors, or environmental hazards—before they escalate.
In construction, AI identifies fall risks or structural weaknesses; in manufacturing, it monitors machinery and worker fatigue; and in energy, it flags potential system failures. Shifting from reactive responses to proactive prevention, this approach enhances decision-making, reduces downtime, and saves lives. Drawing on case studies and cutting-edge research, we highlight how these innovations empower industries to predict and mitigate risks with unprecedented precision.
Challenges, including data integration and ethical considerations, are also addressed. This session will demonstrate how AI and AIIoT are setting a new standard for safety, aligning with the Safety on the Edge 2025 theme of pushing boundaries through technology.
Iskander El Amri is a mechanical engineer by training and a safety tech entrepreneur by passion. He is the Founder and CEO of Solyntek AI, a company redefining risk detection through AI vision and AIIoT across high-stakes industries. With a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Texas A&M) —where he developed advanced polishing processes for manufacturing applications—and a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering (Texas A&M) , Iskander brings a rare blend of hands-on technical expertise and systems-level thinking to industrial innovation.
Before founding Solyntek, Iskander worked extensively in industrial inspection and safety supervision, particularly in energy, construction, and manufacturing environments. This cross-sector experience inspired his mission to bridge AI technology with the operational realities of frontline safety.
At Solyntek, he leads the development of AI-powered systems that detect falls, ergonomic risks, equipment anomalies, and unsafe behaviors in real-time—while respecting worker privacy and minimizing integration friction. His work supports some of the world’s largest manufacturers in transforming safety from a reactive process into a proactive, data-driven capability.
Iskander also hosts The HSE Edge, a podcast exploring the intersection of safety, technology, and human performance. His vision is to make predictive safety intelligence the new standard in advanced manufacturing and beyond.
